What's all this talk of a Rickshaw Run?

Imagine the fastest, safest, earth-munching all-terrain vehicle in the world. Then imagine the opposite. Three wheels, half a horse power and more fun than any other vehicle on planet earth the humble Rickshaw is undoubtedly the ultimate long distance, off road machine, despite being designed purely for short distances on a road. Now imagine trying to get this dodgy piece ofIndian engineering across the Rajasthan desert, over the Western Ghats (mountains) and through Indian rain Llegadaforests. The Rickshaw Run is pretty simple. With no preparation and less luggage you do your damndest to force 145cc glorified lawnmower over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in two weeks with no support at all.

When does all this mayhem take place?

We set off from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on the 1st of January 2011 and all being well we hope to arrive (in one piece) at the finish line in Cochin in like two weeks or more.

Why are we doing it?

Well, the short answer is insanity, really, and probably to get rid of Nosh (forever) somewhere along the way. Challenges and opportunities like this do not come along very often and so we have decided that our lack of experience and half a brain (combined) should not hinder us. What typifies the level of stupidity is that none of us have ever tried to fix or maintain any kind of motor vehicle, let alone one that has broken down in rural India. No-one in their right mind would actually enjoy this, would they??! But seriously, we are aiming to raise at £1,000 for our nominated charity, FRANK water. It's a fantastic cause, with other 30 projects completed in India to date, helping to bring clean water to 200,0000 people. You may find out more about them by clicking through to their web page Charities page. If you would like to donate, which if you have read this far we know you would, then please click on the link below.

Who's in the support team?

Nobody actually. We're are all alone on this very noble quest, so we are fully responsible for any mishaps and catastrophes that may, and probably will, happen. Add the chance of being run off the road by train of Indian lorries and many probable breakdowns due to our jazzy means of transport, its certainly going to be a test. So the support our team needs is YOU. That's why we'd like donations for our charity. Your donations will keep us going through to the end. Please and Thank you!!
